The short version: No account required. We don't use cookies. The only data we store is what you enter into the form — temporarily, to generate your roast. If you give us your email, it's optional and goes to our mailing list. That's it.
1. Who we are
Roast Writer™ is an AI-powered personalized roast line and speech generator. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site and how we handle it. Questions? Email us at hello@roastwriter.ai.
2. What information we collect
Form data you enter: When you use the generator, you enter details about the person being roasted — their name, occasion, quirks, your relationship to them, and a tone preference. This information is sent to our server to generate your roast lines. It is stored temporarily in a session file to deliver your results after payment.
Email address (optional): If you choose to enter your email address, it is added to our mailing list via Kit (ConvertKit) to receive tips for delivering your roast. This is entirely optional — you can use Roast Writer without providing an email.
Payment information: Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see, receive, or store your credit card number or billing details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to all payment processing.
Analytics: We use Plausible Analytics and/or Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — page views, traffic sources, conversion rates. This data is aggregated and does not identify individuals.
3. What we don't collect
- We don't use cookies for tracking or advertising
- We don't create or require user accounts
- We don't sell your data to third parties
- We don't share your form data with advertisers
- We don't retain your roast session data longer than necessary to deliver your results
4. How your session works
When you submit the form, our server generates your roast lines and stores them in a temporary session file identified by a unique token. That token is saved to your browser's localStorage — not a cookie — so your results can be retrieved after you complete payment via Stripe.
Session files are stored on our server and are not accessible to other users. We periodically delete old session files. You can clear your browser's localStorage at any time to remove your token.
5. Third-party services
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Kit (ConvertKit) — optional email list. Kit Privacy Policy
- Anthropic Claude API — AI generation. Your form data is sent to Anthropic's API to generate roast lines. Anthropic's API data handling policy applies.
- Plausible / Google Analytics — aggregated usage analytics.
- SiteGround — web hosting. Standard server logs (IP addresses, request times) are retained per SiteGround's standard policy.
6. Data retention
Session files containing your roast data are stored for a limited period and then automatically deleted. Email addresses added to our Kit list are retained until you unsubscribe. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@roastwriter.ai.
7. Children's privacy
Roast Writer is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information through our site, please contact us.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
